This delicious smoothie is from my book, Smoothies & Juices: Prevention Healing Kitchen. Pretty much everyone has experienced bloating or water retention at some point. It’s annoying and uncomfortable and it often happens because we’ve gone out for a salty dinner and (too many) drinks. You’ll look and feel better fast and will be able to put your rings on again after sipping this smoothie. It includes coffee, a natural diuretic, and potassium-rich bananas counteract the effects of excess sodium. Almond butter adds plant protein and fiber to help you feel satisfied.
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup refrigerated, unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup coffee, chilled
2 tablespoons unsweetened almond butter
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4-1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 frozen banana
In a blender, combine almond milk, coffee, almond butter, cocoa powder, peppermint extract and banana until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Serve in 2 glasses.
